Why home hair removal methods just don’t work.

Removing unwanted body and facial hair is a regular part of grooming for men and women alike. At one time or another most people use at home methods of hair removal, the most common being shaving, tweezing, epilators, depilatories, and waxing. Using any of the home methods to remove back or pubic hair is difficult to accomplish at best.

Shaving and tweezing are the standbys of home hair removal. Each method is simple, but is a temporary solution. Shaving cuts hair off at skin level so regrowth is quick with stubble appearing in 1 to 3 days.

Tweezers or epilators pull hair out by the root resulting in a longer regrowth time, typically about three weeks, but both can be painful. Tweezing should only be used for eyebrows or the occasional stray hair. Epilators remove hair in bunches instead of individually which makes them appropriate for larger areas such as arms and legs.

Depilatories chemically weaken hair at the follicle so that it can be rubbed or scraped off. These concoctions smell bad, can take up to 15 minutes to work, and frequently cause skin irritation. And after all that, the hair will usually begin to grow back within 2-4 days.

Waxing is the method most often used for removing hair from the pubic region and the back. Until recently, in home waxing was unusual, however today there are several products on the market designed for home use. Self waxing can be difficult to do as well as quite painful. Results last about 3-6 weeks.

When you consider the amount of time, trouble, and pain of these home removal methods, is it no wonder that folks are embracing laser hair removal in Chicago? With a few comfortable sessions your skin can be smooth and free of unwanted hair, forever.
